Hyderabad: The Telangana government has formally written to the Union Home Ministry , requesting a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into alleged irregularities in the construction of the Kaleshwaram irrigation project . The letter cites findings from the Justice Chandra Ghose Commission report as the basis for the investigation.
The state government has urged that the inquiry cover not only the project’s construction lapses but also associated inter-state matters and activities of the Kaleshwaram Irrigation Development Corporation. This move aims to ensure transparency and accountability in the execution of the massive irrigation initiative.
Additionally, the government has indicated plans to revoke the previous administration’s government order that restricted CBI involvement in the matter. Officials suggest that a new circular enabling the investigation could be issued imminently. The decision underscores Telangana’s commitment to probing alleged corruption and safeguarding public resources in the Kaleshwaram project.
