Telangana IPS Officers Denounce Media Targeting of Women Bureaucrats
Several senior IPS officers in Telangana on Friday strongly condemned what they described as the “character assassination” of women bureaucrats by certain sections of the media. The officers expressed concern over reports that, they said, unfairly targeted female officers, questioning their integrity and professionalism.
In a statement issued from Hyderabad, the IPS fraternity emphasised that such media narratives not only undermine the morale of women in public service but also erode public trust in governance. They called for responsible journalism that focuses on facts and constructive reporting rather than sensationalism.
The officers further urged media houses to exercise caution while reporting on professional matters related to civil servants, particularly women, and to avoid spreading unverified claims that could damage reputations.
Highlighting the importance of gender equality and respect in the workplace, the Telangana IPS urged society to support women bureaucrats in performing their duties without fear of defamation, harassment, or undue scrutiny.
