CPI national secretary Narayana launched a sharp attack on the BJP and Telangana Governor. He accused the Governor of behaving like a subordinate to BJP leaders. Speaking in Delhi, Narayana opposed the BJP’s move to officially celebrate September 17 as Telangana Liberation Day.
He said BJP leaders were twisting history and misleading people about the events of September 17. According to him, during the Telangana armed struggle against the Razakars, it was only communists who fought bravely. He added that their sacrifices helped shape Telangana’s freedom.
Narayana alleged that the BJP raises the issue every year only for political mileage. He recalled that both CPI and RSS were founded in 1925. Yet, no RSS worker had taken part in India’s independence struggle. He stressed that communists faced British bullets and lathis, and 4,500 members gave their lives for freedom.
The CPI leader urged BJP leaders to stop spreading false narratives about Telangana’s history. He also asked the Governor to act independently and not simply follow BJP’s instructions. Narayana said the spirit of the Telangana struggle belongs to the communists, not to the BJP.
