Hyderabad: In the highly prestigious Jubilee Hills by-election, 226 of the 407 polling stations have been identified as sensitive, according to Hyderabad District Election Officer and GHMC Commissioner R.V. Karnan. Due to the large number of candidates, four ballot units are being used. Drone surveillance has been deployed for close monitoring during polling.
All election arrangements have been completed, and staff have been trained, officials said. Voting will take place across 139 polling locations with 4,01,365 registered voters. Authorities have extended the polling time from 7 AM to 6 PM to encourage higher voter turnout. Kotla Vijayabhaskar Reddy Stadium has been set up as the DRC center with three-tier security. Door-to-door campaigns are allowed as per Election Commission guidelines.
For law and order, eight police companies with 1,761 personnel have been deployed, said Joint Commissioner of Police Tafseer Iqbal. Over ₹3.5 crore in cash was seized, and ₹2.11 crore was released after verification. Around 230 rowdy-sheeters were bound over. All outsiders have been ordered to vacate the constituency, and liquor shops will remain closed until counting ends on November 14.
Drone surveillance is active in 139 areas, monitoring outside polling stations, while webcasting will capture live visuals inside polling booths from 6 AM till the end of polling. GHMC’s control room will review the footage to ensure peaceful and transparent elections.
