Tirumala temple to remain closed due to lunar eclipse on March 3, officials said, as special rituals will be performed at the hill shrine. The temple will shut from 9 a.m. to 7.30 p.m. during the eclipse.
Darshan will resume from 8.30 p.m. after the completion of the ‘suddhi’ and ‘punyavachanam’ rituals. Temple authorities advised devotees to plan their visit accordingly to avoid inconvenience.
Officials said the closure is part of traditional practices followed during lunar eclipses. The rituals are considered essential to purify the temple and its surroundings before reopening for devotees.
Temple staff are making arrangements to manage the flow of visitors once darshan resumes. Security and crowd management measures will be in place to ensure a smooth experience.
Authorities urged devotees to follow guidelines and maintain decorum during the temporary closure. Special arrangements are also being made for priests and staff to perform rituals safely during the eclipse.
The temple administration reminded visitors that darshan timings on other days will remain normal. Devotees can also check official updates online for any changes.
