Senior advocate Salim has decided to argue the piracy case involving accused Ravi. His involvement drew attention because he earlier handled high-profile cases in Andhra Pradesh. Salim represented the accused in the knife attack and stone-pelting cases related to former CM Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy. He secured bail for the accused in those matters. He said he is ready to defend Ravi under the same legal framework that allowed the arrest.
Salim stated that defending an accused is part of his professional duty. He said he will fight for Ravi’s rights as per the law. To begin legal procedures, he visited Ravi’s father Appa Rao in Pedagattillisalipeta, Visakhapatnam district. He explained the need for a few signatures to formally take the case.
However, Appa Rao refused to sign the papers. He told Salim that his health has weakened, and he cannot handle court visits. He expressed that he has no energy to deal with long legal battles. Appa Rao asked the lawyer to leave him out of the process.
Salim said he respects the father’s decision but will continue exploring other legal options to defend Ravi. He urged that every accused deserves legal support during prosecution. The case continues to draw public interest due to past incidents connected with Salim’s legal record.
