The traffic challan 50% discount scheme brings relief to many vehicle owners in Bihar. The state government introduced this plan to help people clear old traffic fines quickly. Drivers can now pay only half the amount to settle pending e-challans.
Under the traffic challan 50% discount, the rule applies to e-challans older than 90 days. The Transport Department started the scheme after cabinet approval. Officials want more people to clear their pending fines.
People can settle these cases through National Lok Adalats or virtual courts. The government launched the One-Time Traffic Challan Settlement Scheme 2026 for this purpose. The plan will remain active during the 2026–27 financial year.
The discount covers common traffic violations. These include not wearing a helmet, skipping a seat belt, jumping signals, and driving without insurance.
Officials expect the scheme to reduce pending cases. It will also help drivers clear their dues easily.
