Tribal Pride Central to India’s Freedom Legacy: PM Modi delivered a strong message on Janjatiya Gaurav Divas, stressing that tribal pride has shaped India’s identity for thousands of years. He said the country owes deep respect to tribal communities for standing at the forefront of India’s freedom movement.
Addressing a gathering in Narmada, the Prime Minister said his government began celebrating Birsa Munda’s birth anniversary as Janjatiya Gaurav Divas to honour this heritage. He criticized past Congress governments for ignoring tribal needs. Modi said malnutrition, poor education, and limited opportunities continued for decades because earlier governments did not act. In contrast, he highlighted BJP’s focus on welfare, empowerment, and justice for tribal families.
Modi also reviewed progress on the Mumbai-Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail Corridor during his visit to Surat earlier in the day. The project spans 508 km and uses modern engineering to boost national connectivity. With 326 km of viaduct work already complete, the bullet train is set to cut Mumbai–Ahmedabad travel time to about two hours, spurring economic and regional growth.
