UK Liberal Democrat leader Ed Davey launched a fierce attack on US President Donald Trump in Parliament. He accused Trump of acting like an “international gangster.” Davey said Trump behaves like a bully who tries to seize what he wants by force. He urged Britain to stand with European allies and push back firmly.

Davey warned that the situation marks a grave moment for Britain and Europe. He said Trump threatens national security, economies, and livelihoods. He also accused Trump of trampling on the sovereignty of allies. Davey described him as the most corrupt US president. He mocked two choices for dealing with Trump. One option involved flattery and gifts. The other involved standing up to him.

The remarks followed Trump’s tariff threats linked to Greenland. Trump said he would impose 10 percent tariffs on eight countries from February 1. The rate could rise to 25 percent by June if talks fail. Denmark, France, Germany, and Britain face the measures.

European leaders rejected the plan. EU chief Ursula von der Leyen called the tariffs a mistake. She promised a united and proportional response. France’s President Emmanuel Macron also rejected the move. Trump insists Greenland matters for US national security.
