London: US President Donald Trump admitted he knew little about artificial intelligence and joked that it was “taking over the world” as he met business and tech leaders in Britain.
Trump and UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer hosted executives, including Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang, during Trump’s second state visit to the UK. The event celebrated a new tech partnership between the two countries and major investments in AI, quantum computing, and nuclear energy.
While addressing the gathering, Trump looked at Huang and said, “You’re taking over the world. Jensen, I don’t know what you’re doing here. I hope you’re right. All I can say is, we both hope you’re right.” His unscripted remarks drew laughter from Starmer and the audience.
Later, Trump and Starmer signed the Tech Prosperity Deal, which aims to develop AI tools for healthcare, expand quantum computing, and advance nuclear projects. Nvidia announced it would deploy 120,000 GPUs across Britain, its largest rollout in Europe so far.
Before signing, Trump joked with Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, asking, “Should I sign this? If it’s no good, I’m blaming you, Scott.”
