Trump Pushes for Middle East Peace with Netanyahu

Middle East Peace

US President Donald Trump said his plan to end the war in Gaza is in its final stages ahead of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s visit to the White House on Monday. In an interview with Axios, Trump claimed he is close to reaching an agreement with Netanyahu, Arab nations, and even Hamas.

“Everybody has come together to get a deal, but we still have to get it done,” Trump said. He praised Arab countries for their cooperation and emphasized that all sides, including Israel and Hamas, want peace. Trump hopes the plan will restart a wider push for peace across the Middle East.

However, Netanyahu’s recent actions suggest caution. In a UN address last Friday, he vowed to “finish the job” against Hamas and block a Palestinian state, while continuing military operations in Gaza.

This will be Netanyahu’s fourth visit to the White House since Trump returned to office in January. Despite their usual alliance, Trump has shown frustration with Netanyahu, warning him against annexing the West Bank and opposing recent Israeli strikes in Qatar.

Experts say the success of the meeting depends on how much pressure Trump applies to convince Netanyahu to accept a deal that neither Israel nor Hamas fully supports yet.
