The heartbreaking case of two and half year girl dead after fall in open chamber in Patna Naubatpur came to light on Friday when the toddler went missing after returning from her anganwadi centre in Sarasat village under Naubatpur.
Her family started searching when she did not reach home. Villagers later spotted her school bag near an uncovered drain chamber on the roadside. They immediately informed the police and began rescue efforts.
After several hours of search, locals recovered the child from inside the water-filled chamber. Doctors later confirmed her death. Authorities sent the body to AIIMS Patna for post-mortem.
Residents blamed negligence and demanded strict action against those responsible for leaving the chamber open.
