Two young men from Hyderabad tragically lost their lives in the United States within 48 hours. Sheraz Mehtab Mohammed, 25, who had recently moved to the US for better opportunities, died in a road accident in Evanston, a suburb of Chicago, Illinois, on Sunday. His family in Chanchalguda, Hyderabad, has been informed, and efforts are underway to bring his body back to India.
Just two days earlier, 27-year-old Chandrashekar Pole was shot dead at a gas station in Dallas, Texas. Pole, who moved to the US in 2023 for higher studies, had completed his master’s six months ago and was working part-time while seeking a full-time job.
Pole’s mother, Sunitha, urged the government to ensure the safety of Indians abroad and help repatriate her son. The Indian Consulate in Houston is in touch with the family and is providing all possible assistance while local authorities continue investigating the incident. These back-to-back tragedies have shaken the Hyderabad community, highlighting the risks faced by Indians living far from home.
