Two Indian students died after a house fire in London, while a third remains hospitalised. The blaze broke out on February 23 at a rented home in Croydon, South London.
Kamineni Sai Srikar, 26, from Nizamabad, lived in the house with two roommates. Fire crews rushed the three men to Croydon University Hospital with severe injuries. Doctors declared Srikar brain-dead after several days of treatment. He later died. His family has requested that authorities repatriate his body to India.
His roommate, Ganti Abhishek, 28, from Kakinada, died at the scene from smoke inhalation. The third student escaped the house but suffered injuries and remains under medical care.
Srikar had completed his engineering degree in Hyderabad before moving to the UK for a Master’s degree in science.
Authorities are investigating the cause of the fire. The tragedy has left both families in shock as they await further updates from local officials.
