Former Army Chief General M.M. Naravane said that the unresolved boundary issue between India and China is affecting relations between the two countries. Speaking at a literature festival in Dibrugarh, he said the border dispute remains a major challenge in improving ties.
General Naravane said it is possible to find a solution through talks and negotiations. He pointed to the 2015 Land Boundary Agreement between India and Bangladesh as an example of how difficult border issues can be solved peacefully. He suggested that a similar approach could help in resolving the dispute with China.
However, he made it clear that India will never accept any “unilateral use of force” by China along the Line of Actual Control (LAC). He stressed that peace and stability at the border are very important for better relations. At the same time, India must stay firm in protecting its territory and national interests.
