Upendra Kushwaha appointed Madhav Anand as the new leader of the RLM legislative party. This move came after rising tensions inside the party. Kushwaha hopes this decision will calm the anger among many leaders. In the same step, Upendra Kushwaha appointed Madhav Anand to show that he values his elected MLAs.
Madhav Anand won from Madhubani in the recent elections. Kushwaha also chose his wife Snehlata as the chief whip. She won from Sasaram. These choices followed heavy criticism. Many leaders felt upset after Kushwaha made his son Deepak Prakash a minister. Deepak is not an MLA or an MLC, and this created strong protests.
Some senior members even walked away from the party. Madhav Anand also felt ignored because he did not get a minister post. By giving him this new role, Kushwaha aims to keep the party stable. All four RLM MLAs had already given Kushwaha the right to select the legislative leader and whip.
This move now looks like an effort to bring unity and reduce conflict within the RLM.
