A bribery case in Sasaram shocked the administration when vigilance officials arrested an officer red-handed on Tuesday. The officer, Vinod Kumar, was posted at the Bikramganj Sub-Divisional Office. He was caught accepting ₹1.16 lakh as a bribe to settle a land dispute. The bribery case in Sasaram highlights the vigilance department’s tightening crackdown on corruption.
According to officials, the team entered the office around noon and found Vinod Kumar in his chamber, Room No. 105. He was arrested on the spot while taking the money. The sudden operation created panic among employees, who appeared stunned by the incident.
Investigations revealed that the bribe was demanded from Rakesh Kumar Thakur, a resident of Dhanmai village. The officer had assured him of quick resolution of a land-related case. The vigilance team confirmed the transaction and seized the cash.
After the arrest, Vinod Kumar was placed under interrogation. Officials stated that similar raids will continue under the ongoing anti-corruption campaign. The Sasaram Sub-Divisional Office is now under strict vigilance.
This arrest adds to the growing list of government officers trapped in the bribery case in Sasaram, proving the department’s firm action against corruption.
