Voter List Irregularities in Bihar Raise Concerns Before 2025 Polls

Major voter list irregularities have surfaced in Bihar after the SIR review. In Bakhtiyarpur’s Hardaspur Diara and five nearby panchayats, several names appeared at multiple places. Shockingly, about 300 voters from Samastipur and Vaishali were also found in Bakhtiyarpur rolls.

Booth Level Officers (BLOs) were asked to verify voters by checking their name, age, and address. They were expected to delete fake or duplicate entries. Instead, many BLOs left the names unchanged, which kept the irregularities alive.

In Hardaspur Diara Panchayat, more than 180 voters from Samastipur’s Mohiuddin Nagar constituency were wrongly included. Vaishali’s Mahnar constituency also had duplicate entries in Booth No. 129 and 342 of Bakhtiyarpur. Similar issues were reported from Dihara, Tiraha, and Ramnagar panchayats.

The findings have raised questions about the transparency of the electoral system. Many voters are still registered in more than one location, despite several verification drives.

Meanwhile, with the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections approaching, Union Minister and LJP (Ram Vilas) chief Chirag Paswan will address a mega rally today at MIT Ground in Muzaffarpur. The rally is expected to boost party preparations for key seats in the region.
