The Bihar Bandh protest, called by the NDA, has disrupted normal life across Siwan, Katihar, Banka, and several other districts. The bandh, active from 7 AM to 12 PM, is a response to derogatory remarks allegedly made against Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s late mother during Rahul Gandhi and the INDIA alliance’s “Voter Rights Yatra” in Darbhanga.
NDA leaders said the Bihar Bandh protest is not just about an insult to Modi’s mother but to 140 crore Indians. They urged people to close shops and stay indoors as a mark of respect. The BJP’s Mahila Morcha initiated the call, stressing that the bandh would remain peaceful.
Deputy CM Samrat Choudhary, Mayor Apsara Devi, and BJP leaders joined demonstrations at key locations in Patna, including Kargil Chowk, raising slogans against Rahul Gandhi and Tejashwi Yadav. Traffic came to a standstill on important routes like Katihar–Purnia, Katihar–Manihari, and Khagaria–Begusarai. Buses stopped midway, passengers were stranded, and office-goers struggled to reach workplaces.
Protests and road blockades continued through the morning, creating a widespread impact across Bihar. Leaders confirmed the bandh would end by noon.
