World’s First Indigo-Dyed Wool Denim Unveiled at Fashion Week
At the 2025 DenimandJeans exhibition in Bengaluru, IIT Delhi alumnus Satendra Singh introduced an innovative fabric: indigo-dyed wool denim. This new material combines the look of denim with the warmth and breathability of Merino wool, making it ideal for all-weather use. Singh’s patented dyeing process preserves wool’s quality while achieving a true indigo color, solving traditional dyeing challenges.
Designer Anurag Gupta showcased the fabric at Lakmé Fashion Week, featuring a collection that blends innovation with modern style. This collaboration highlights a new standard in sustainable fashion, offering a water-saving, eco-friendly alternative to traditional denim.
This breakthrough from a boy from Ayodhya and another from Dholpur, with IIT innovation at its core, promises to revolutionize the textile industry by promoting sustainable and functional materials.
