YSRCP Campaign Against PPP Medical Colleges Politically Motivated, Says Health Minister

Health Minister Satya Kumar on Monday dismissed the YSR Congress Party’s signature campaign against Public-Private Partnership (PPP) medical colleges as a “political drama” aimed at former Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy’s survival in public discourse. He alleged that the campaign was misleading people by wrongly projecting the PPP model as privatisation of medical education.
Addressing the media in Vijayawada, Mr. Satya Kumar said the YSRCP MPs and leaders were misrepresenting facts due to their “lack of understanding” of the PPP framework. He clarified that the model was designed to expand medical education infrastructure, improve healthcare access, and reduce the financial burden on the State, while retaining government oversight.
The Minister asserted that PPP medical colleges would function in the public interest, with regulated fee structures and reservation policies intact. He accused the previous government of neglecting healthcare development and said the present administration was committed to strengthening medical education and services across Andhra Pradesh. He urged the public not to be misled by politically motivated campaigns.
