YSRCP Protests, Demands Protection of Rayalaseema’s Water Rights
YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) leaders staged a protest in Tirupati on Monday, alleging that the Andhra Pradesh government was ignoring the interests of the Rayalaseema region and yielding to pressure from Telangana. Party representatives claimed that Rayalaseema’s water rights were under threat due to perceived unfair distribution and management of river resources.
During the protest, YSRCP leaders demanded that the state take immediate steps to safeguard the region’s water allocations and ensure equitable access for agriculture, drinking water, and industrial needs. They warned that neglecting Rayalaseema could harm local farmers, industries, and communities dependent on irrigation projects.
Party spokespersons also called for transparent decision-making and inclusion of local stakeholders in discussions regarding inter-state water sharing. The protest highlighted longstanding regional concerns over resource allocation and urged the government to balance development priorities while protecting Rayalaseema’s rights. Demonstrators carried placards and raised slogans emphasizing justice, equity, and sustainable water management for the region.
