The Zelenskyy, European leaders seek US-backed security guarantees amid Russian strikes discussions took place in Paris on Thursday. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy joined European leaders and US envoy Steve Witkoff, appointed by President Trump, to push for stronger defense support.
Leaders reviewed long-term security plans for Ukraine. They demanded military support during the war and continued US backing after the conflict ends. Zelenskyy met Witkoff in a closed-door session to strengthen Ukraine’s defense strategy and expand international pressure on Russia.
French President Emmanuel Macron and British Prime Minister Keir Starmer led the talks. They insisted that Europe’s reassurance force in Ukraine must include US involvement. Starmer’s office emphasized the group’s unbreakable pledge to Ukraine. With Trump’s envoy backing them, the leaders agreed they must apply more pressure on Putin to secure a ceasefire.
The group also discussed aid packages, future defense cooperation, and deterrence plans to block further Russian aggression. Zelenskyy thanked allies for their unity and urged faster action.
