AP Minister Gottipati clarified in the Assembly that the government is using five-star rated transformers specifically to reduce electricity expenses. Speaking on the purchase of electrical equipment, he emphasized that all acquisitions were done through online bidding, ensuring transparency and competitiveness. For equipment costing above ₹5 crore, approvals were obtained from APERC.

The minister noted that while there may be price differences compared to other states, the focus remains on quality and efficiency. He highlighted that old poles purchased for Jagananna colonies at a cost of ₹220 crore are being reused in other locations, reflecting prudent utilization of resources.

Gottipati stressed that these measures are part of the government’s broader strategy to optimize power distribution costs and enhance infrastructure efficiency, ensuring sustainable energy management across Andhra Pradesh.
