Vinay Kumar Appointed IG in NIA, Gets Central Deputation

Vinay Kumar appointed IG in NIA from Bihar STF

Vinay Kumar appointed IG in NIA marks a major step in the career of the senior IPS officer. Vinay Kumar appointed IG in NIA while serving as Inspector General (Operations) in the Bihar Special Task Force (STF). He belongs to the 2004 batch of the Indian Police Service and is from the Bihar cadre.

The Bihar Home Department issued an official notification confirming his central deputation. With this order, Vinay Kumar will soon be relieved from his current post to take charge at the National Investigation Agency (NIA).

During his tenure with the Bihar STF, Kumar led several important operations. He played a key role in action against organised crime, criminal gangs, and wanted offenders. His leadership helped strengthen coordination among special police units.

Vinay Kumar has held several important positions in his career. He earlier served as Superintendent of Police and Deputy Inspector General in different districts. He also worked in sensitive and challenging areas, including regions affected by left-wing extremism.

Officials believe his experience in handling complex security cases will help the NIA. The agency investigates terrorism-related cases and other serious crimes across the country.

This appointment is part of a wider administrative reshuffle. More senior officers from Bihar are also expected to move to central roles in the coming weeks.
