A Kosi Express fire scare created panic among passengers near Madhepura in Bihar on Friday night. Smoke and small flames appeared from beneath the S-5 sleeper coach of the train while it was travelling from Patna to Purnia Court.
Passengers noticed the smoke first and raised an alarm. As the smoke increased, several people quickly got down from the train and moved away in fear. The sudden Kosi Express fire scare caused chaos near Budhma station on the Madhepura–Purnia railway section.
Railway staff stopped the train after receiving the alert from passengers. Officials said the problem started due to a brake-binding issue under the coach, which produced smoke and sparks. Railway workers and local residents helped control the situation.
After railway staff checked and repaired the coach, the train resumed its journey. Authorities confirmed that no passenger suffered serious injuries in the incident.
