The Bedroom Statement Row has created fresh political tension after controversial remarks by Pappu Yadav about women in politics. Leaders from several parties criticised the comments, and even members of the Indian National Congress expressed anger over the issue. Alka Lamba said the statement was unacceptable and demanded an apology from the MP.
Speaking to reporters, Alka Lamba said no woman or political party can support such language. She called the remarks offensive and said they hurt women across the country. According to her, the Bedroom Statement Row has damaged the dignity of women in public life and needs a clear apology.
The controversy started after Pappu Yadav said that most women cannot succeed in politics without passing through the “bedroom” of powerful leaders. The remark sparked outrage among women’s groups, political leaders, and social organisations.
Despite the criticism, Pappu Yadav defended his comments. He said he only tried to highlight the harsh reality of exploitation faced by some women in politics and society.
The issue has now turned into a major political debate, and pressure continues to grow on him to apologise.
