The Patna blackout drill will take place in six districts of Bihar as part of a security mock exercise. Authorities will sound emergency sirens and cut electricity for a short time to test public preparedness. The Patna blackout drill will also take place in Begusarai, Kishanganj, Purnea, Araria, and Katihar.
Officials from the Disaster Management Department said the exercise will happen in the third week of May. Authorities have not announced the exact date yet. When the drill starts, sirens will sound at public places and officials will switch off power across selected areas.
The blackout is part of a mock drill designed to prepare citizens for emergencies such as air attacks or war-like situations. These drills help people understand how to respond quickly and safely during a crisis.
Officials said the central government recommends civil defence drills at least twice a year. Such exercises help improve emergency response and coordination between departments.
