On Wednesday, Telangana BJP celebrated *Liberation Day* at its office under the leadership of Union Minister Kishan Reddy. During the event, State BJP President Ramachandra Rao unveiled the national flag.
Rao emphasized the need for the state government to officially recognize *Telangana Liberation Day*, stating that such events should not be used for political gains. He announced that if the BJP comes to power in the state, it will officially observe the day.
The historic day marks the merger of the Hyderabad princely state into the Indian Union on *September 17, 1948. Prior to that, Hyderabad was under the rule of Nizam Osman Ali Khan, who continued his reign until India’s **Operation Polo* led by Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. The Indian Army entered Hyderabad on *September 13, 1948*, and within four days, the Nizam surrendered, leading to Hyderabad’s integration into India. Many Telangana leaders, such as Ravi Narayan Reddy and Mallu Swarajyam, sacrificed their lives in this fight for liberation.
