Political tensions have intensified in Samrala after AAP MLA Jagtar Singh Dayalpura allegedly announced grants of ₹31 lakh, ₹11 lakh, and ₹5 lakh for villages that supported AAP candidates in Zila Parishad and Block Samiti elections. Akali Dal leaders Harjinder Singh Pawat and candidate Harjot Singh Mangat accused the MLA of luring voters with financial promises, calling it a clear violation of the election code.
They alleged that the AAP struggled to find candidates in several villages and later attempted to challenge the nomination papers of Akali Dal candidates but failed. The leaders claimed that, sensing defeat, the MLA has now turned to promises of grants to influence voters.
Akali Dal has formally approached the State Election Commission, demanding strict action against what they describe as unethical and unlawful conduct. They said voters are now fully aware of the AAP government’s unfulfilled promises and will not be misled.
