Bengal BJP Hitler Comparison has triggered a fresh political controversy ahead of next year’s West Bengal Assembly elections. The state BJP unit compared Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee to Adolf Hitler in a sharp social media attack, escalating tensions in an already charged political climate.
In a post shared on X, the BJP described Banerjee as a “dictator” and claimed she was feeling rattled. The post carried a morphed image placing Banerjee alongside the German dictator, with the caption reading, “The dictator is rattled.” The post quickly went viral and drew strong reactions across party lines.
The controversy comes amid heightened political friction in the state. Tensions rose further after football fans vandalised a Kolkata stadium during Lionel Messi’s much-publicised GOAT India Tour. Messi reportedly spent only a brief time at the venue before leaving, allegedly due to mismanagement. Many fans expressed anger after paying high ticket prices.
Chief Minister Banerjee apologised for the incident and said she was shocked by the chaos. The BJP dismissed her response as “crocodile tears” and blamed the Trinamool Congress government for embarrassment to the state. Congress leaders echoed similar criticism.
The TMC denied responsibility, stating that a private agency organised the event. Meanwhile, tour promoter Satadru Dutta was arrested and sent to 14 days of police custody, adding another layer to the political fallout.
