Bihar Political Shake-Up: Santosh Kushwaha Joins RJD

Santosh Kushwaha joins RJD, Bihar political crisis

The Bihar political crisis deepens as former JDU MP Santosh Kushwaha joins RJD, marking a major setback for Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s party in Seemanchal. Kushwaha, twice elected from Purnia on a JDU ticket, brings significant influence among the Kushwaha community. His decision follows dissatisfaction over neglect within JDU and recent defeats, including the 2024 Lok Sabha loss to Pappu Yadav.

According to reports, Kushwaha will join RJD between 2 and 3 PM in Tejashwi Yadav’s presence. The RJD plans to field him from the Dhamdaha Assembly seat against senior JDU minister Leshi Singh. His entry could strengthen RJD’s position in Seemanchal, a politically sensitive region.

Kushwaha earlier left BJP in 2013 to join JDU and now, a decade later, begins a new chapter. His switch is expected to reshape caste dynamics and regional equations before the Bihar elections.
