Parliament has taken a key step on the Corporate Laws Amendment Bill 2026 by forming a Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC). Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla named BJP MP Sudheer Gupta as the chairman of the panel.
Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman introduced the Corporate Laws Amendment Bill 2026 in the Lok Sabha. The bill plans changes to the Companies Act, 2013 and the Limited Liability Partnership Act, 2008. These changes aim to improve corporate governance and make rules simpler for businesses.
The committee will study the bill carefully. Members will review each clause. They will also meet experts and industry groups. After the review, the panel will submit its report to Parliament.
The government says the amendments will reduce compliance pressure on companies. The bill will also remove criminal penalties for some minor procedural offences. Officials believe the reforms will help startups and support business growth in India.
