The deadline for submitting applications for liquor shop tenders in Telangana ends today. As per officials, a massive response has been recorded, with nearly 90,000 applications received so far for 2,620 liquor outlets across the state. Applications will be accepted till 5 PM today, and the final count is expected to approach one lakh.
The government has already extended the deadline once, and officials indicate that there is very little chance of another extension. The allocation of liquor shops will be conducted through a lottery system on October 27, which will finalize the new license holders.
With such a high number of applications, competition for each liquor shop is expected to be very intense this year.
