Ex-JDU District President Rifle Seized: Wedding Gunfire Triggers Police Shock Action

Ex-JDU district president rifle seized by police after wedding procession gunfire in Arwal

The ex-JDU district president rifle seized case has shocked Bihar after gunfire during a wedding procession injured a man in Arwal district. The ex-JDU district president rifle seized followed a police raid at the former leader’s house in Mehndiya police station limits.

The incident took place on 4 December in Rupaich village. Celebratory firing broke out during a wedding procession. One bullet hit Vikas Kumar, a local resident. Family members rushed him to PMCH in Patna for treatment.

Police began an investigation soon after the incident. Officers questioned former JDU district president Jitendra Patel. He was taken to the police station for inquiry and later released.

After the injured man gave a written complaint, police registered a case. Investigators gathered fresh evidence linked to the firing incident.

On Thursday, police raided Patel’s house in Radhe Bigha village. Officers seized a licensed rifle suspected to be used during the wedding firing.

Police sent the rifle to the Patna forensic science laboratory for ballistic testing. Officials said the evidence strengthens the case.

Patel is currently absconding. Police teams continue raids to arrest him. Authorities warned that celebratory firing will invite strict legal action.
