G.K. Vasan Says DMK’s Governance Could Cost It in 2026 Elections
Tamil Maanila Congress (Moopanar) leader G.K. Vasan has warned that the ruling DMK may face electoral setbacks in the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections due to perceived lack of transparency and law-and-order issues. Speaking to the media in Chennai, he criticised the state government’s approach towards governance, suggesting that people are increasingly dissatisfied with administrative lapses.
Vasan also pointed out that treating the Union government as an adversary has not benefited the State. “The people of Tamil Nadu feel that constantly opposing the Centre does not help the State in any way,” he said, emphasising the need for constructive cooperation to address development and welfare issues.
He urged the DMK leadership to prioritise transparency, good governance, and law enforcement to regain public confidence. Political observers believe that Vasan’s comments reflect growing opposition concerns and could shape campaign narratives leading up to the 2026 elections, particularly on issues of governance and Centre-State relations.
