Bihar politics took a twist before the elections. The Grand Alliance loses seat in Bihar after VIP candidate Shashi Bhushan Singh’s nomination was cancelled. He was contesting from Sugauli in East Champaran. Officials found technical mistakes during the paper check.
This loss follows a similar setback for the NDA. Earlier, the nomination of LJP-R’s Seema Singh from Chhapra’s Madhaura constituency was rejected. Both major alliances have now lost one seat each before the polls began.
Shashi Bhushan Singh, an RJD leader, won the 2020 elections from Sugauli. He received 65,267 votes and defeated VIP’s Ramchandra Sahni by 3,447 votes. At that time, Mukesh Sahni’s VIP was part of the NDA. The present cancellation has changed the picture completely.
Now, both the NDA and the Grand Alliance lose seat in Bihar without a single vote cast. The contest for the remaining seats is expected to be much tougher. This shows how small technical errors can change political plans.
