Noreen Niazi, sister of former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan, issued a strong warning to the establishment amid growing rumours about his health. She said any attempt to harm her brother would push the country into chaos because the public still supports him.
Niazi told NDTV that Imran Khan remains “a hundred percent healthy” and that false rumours aim to unsettle his supporters. She added that people are waiting to see him and will not tolerate any threat to his safety.
She criticised the conditions of his imprisonment, noting that he has spent nearly a month in solitary confinement. She said the jail manual does not allow isolation beyond four days and called it “mental and physical abuse”.
According to Niazi, authorities are blocking family meetings because they fear his message may reach the public. Her comments come as Asim Munir takes charge as Pakistan’s first Chief of Defence Forces, a move that strengthens military authority. She said Munir “thinks he’s all-powerful”, but she believes only God holds true power.
Despite her concerns, Niazi still hopes for justice. Another sister, Aleema Khan, has filed a contempt petition over Adiala jail’s refusal to allow scheduled family visits. Khan remains in prison facing several cases since his 2023 incarceration.
