A fresh controversy has emerged in the case involving Bandi Bhagirath. Police in Hyderabad have registered cases against several social media influencers for posting videos in support of the accused.
According to officials, the action is linked to the ongoing POCSO investigation against Bhagirath. Authorities found that some influencers allegedly created and shared videos praising the accused and trying to influence public opinion about the case.
Police suspect that a few of these posts may have been paid promotional content meant to improve the accused’s public image during the investigation. Officials also said the videos could violate legal provisions that protect the identity and dignity of victims in POCSO cases.
Following complaints, the Pet Basheerabad Police Station registered FIRs against 14 social media influencers. Investigators said more people could face action if further evidence emerges.
The case has sparked debate across Telangana about the misuse of social media in sensitive criminal investigations.
