Jagan Slams AP Govt Over Medical College Privatisation Plans

YSRCP chief Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy has strongly opposed the Andhra Pradesh government’s alleged move to privatize ten medical colleges, demanding an immediate rollback. He accused Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu of halting construction work on the colleges initiated during the previous YSRCP regime. Jagan highlighted that a stop memo was issued in September 2024, freezing progress on these crucial public health infrastructure projects.
Jagan argued that the colleges were part of a broader vision to improve access to affordable medical education and healthcare across the state, especially in underserved regions. He warned that privatization would make medical education unaffordable for many aspiring students from poor and rural backgrounds. The former chief minister urged the public to resist the move and called on the government to prioritize public welfare over private interests. The issue has sparked political tension and debate across Andhra Pradesh.
