Andhra Pradesh politics has heated up over the issue of medical colleges. Former CM Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy accused the Chandrababu Naidu government of attempting to privatize the government medical colleges established during his tenure. At a public meeting, Jagan warned contractors, saying: “If anyone participates in these tenders, remember, once we return to power, we will cancel them.”

His remarks drew sharp criticism from the ruling Telugu Desam Party (TDP). Party leaders condemned Jagan’s statement as “rowdy politics,” arguing that the initiative is not privatization but rather a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model aimed at improving medical infrastructure.

TDP leader Nara Lokesh defended the government’s decision, claiming the PPP model would enhance healthcare facilities and create more opportunities for students. The warning from Jagan has now turned the issue into a major political fight, reflecting the deep divide between YSRCP and TDP on education and healthcare policies.
