The 2025 Bihar Assembly Elections concluded with a decisive mandate for the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), which secured 202 out of 243 seats, paving the way for Nitish Kumar to begin his fifth consecutive term as Chief Minister. While BJP won 89 seats and JD(U) claimed 85, Chirag Paswan’s Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) added 19 seats to the alliance’s sweeping victory. In contrast, the Mahagathbandhan suffered a major collapse, with RJD winning only 25 seats and Congress managing just six.
Reacting to the results, Jan Suraaj national president Uday Singh congratulated the NDA but attributed his party’s poor performance to widespread public fear of an RJD comeback. Singh said that although Jan Suraaj campaigned on issues, voters hesitated to support them, fearing it would indirectly benefit RJD. He added that Jan Suraaj will continue to act as a strong opposition outside the Assembly.
Singh further stated that founder Prashant Kishor’s entry into the electoral fray could have worsened their losses, prompting the party to refrain from fielding him. Admitting they failed to fully connect with voters, he pledged to strengthen public outreach and strategy in the coming years.
