Jawahirullah Calls on Tamil Nadu Government to Resolve Nurses’ Protest
Manithaneya Makkal Katchi (MMK) president M.H. Jawahirullah has urged the Tamil Nadu government to immediately hold talks with protesting nurses and address their long-pending demands. Speaking in Chennai on Tuesday, he said nurses play a crucial role in the public healthcare system and deserve fair treatment, dignity, and job security.
Jawahirullah expressed concern over the continuing protests, stating that unresolved issues such as regularisation of services, adequate wages, and improved working conditions were affecting the morale of nursing staff. He said delays in addressing these demands could impact healthcare delivery, especially in government hospitals that serve poor and vulnerable sections of society.
Calling for a humanitarian approach, the MMK leader appealed to the government to avoid punitive action against protesting nurses and instead resolve the issue through dialogue. He stressed that fulfilling the nurses’ demands would strengthen the healthcare system and reflect the government’s commitment to social justice and workers’ welfare.
