Karnataka HC Orders Fix for Legal Loophole in Kaveri 2.0 Land Records Software

The Karnataka High Court has highlighted a significant legal loophole in the Kaveri 2.0 software, used for land record management in the state. The court observed that the system currently lacks a facility to enter decrees from civil courts, creating gaps in updating land records based on judicial orders.
In its directive, the High Court instructed the State government to modify the software so that all civil court decrees affecting land ownership and disputes are promptly incorporated into the records. The court emphasized that delays in reflecting court decisions can lead to legal complications, disputes, and potential injustice for parties involved in property matters.
Officials said the software upgrade would allow automatic entry of court orders, ensuring transparency and accuracy in land records. The High Court has set a timeline for implementing these changes, underscoring the need to align technology with legal requirements to safeguard citizens’ property rights and maintain confidence in the state’s land administration system
