Kishanganj has always played a key role in Bihar elections. The Congress party has won this seat the most, making it a traditional stronghold. Despite this, the BJP has given tough fights but has never managed to win Kishanganj. In 2010, BJP’s Sweety Singh lost by just 264 votes, showing how close contests have been in this constituency.
In recent years, competition has grown tougher. Asaduddin Owaisi’s AIMIM won the 2019 by-election here, marking its entry into Bihar politics. However, Congress bounced back in 2020, with Mohammad Izharul Hussain winning the seat again. The BJP has remained a strong contender, finishing second multiple times.
This time, the Congress faces challenges from multiple sides. The BJP, AIMIM, and Prashant Kishore’s Jan Suraj Party are all trying to capture Kishanganj. Still, the Congress-led Grand Alliance is hopeful of retaining its stronghold. With such a small margin of victories in the past, every vote will matter in Kishanganj.
Congress may hold an edge, but Bihar elections Kishanganj will see a fierce four-cornered contest where no party can be underestimated.
