The Ladakh representation issue gained fresh attention on Wednesday. Lieutenant Governor Kavinder Gupta said that many people in the region feel unhappy with the current dialogue. Several groups argue that the talks with the Centre do not give equal space to all voices. Their demand for political safeguards has grown stronger over the last few months.

Gupta said that the Leh Apex Body (LAB) and the Kargil Democratic Alliance (KDA) shared a 29-page draft with the Ministry of Home Affairs. The draft lists their key demands. These include Sixth Schedule status, job protection for locals, control over land, and full statehood. A follow-up meeting with the MHA sub-committee will take place soon.

He noted that some people feel left out of the process, but he believes that honest talks can fix this. Gupta stressed that open dialogue can bring stability to Ladakh. LAB and KDA leaders also said they want a system where both Leh and Kargil get fair representation.
