Lalu Tejashwi Faces Tough Choice for 5th Rajya Sabha Seat as political tension rises in Bihar. With five seats open in the Rajya Sabha, the opposition must decide whether to field a strong candidate or allow the ruling alliance to win unopposed.
Sources say Lalu Prasad Yadav and Tejashwi Yadav are considering two names — Premchand Gupta and AD Singh. The party must act carefully because numbers in the Assembly favor the ruling National Democratic Alliance.
The NDA is confident of winning four seats comfortably. The fifth seat depends on whether the Rashtriya Janata Dal and its allies can gather enough votes.
A candidate needs 41 votes to secure a seat. If the opposition unites and gains extra support, it can make the contest interesting. Otherwise, NDA may achieve a clean sweep without a fight.
