Nardev Singh Bobby Mann received major relief on Monday after the Punjab and Haryana High Court approved his bail plea. The decision came as a setback for the Punjab government. Mann is a senior leader of the Shiromani Akali Dal and the district president of Fazilka.
Mann had remained in judicial custody for the past three months. Punjab Police arrested him during the recent panchayat elections. Authorities booked him under Sections 307, 25, 27, 54, and 59 of the Arms Act. The case relates to alleged violence during the nomination process.
The High Court heard the matter and granted bail, offering Mann significant legal relief. The Shiromani Akali Dal welcomed the court’s decision. Party leaders described the order as a victory for justice.
Nardev Singh Bobby Mann is the son of former three-time Ferozepur MP, late Zora Singh Mann. He also contested the 2024 Lok Sabha elections from Ferozepur on an Akali Dal ticket.
Police registered the FIR at Jalalabad in Fazilka district. The case also names Mann’s brother, Vardev Singh, known as Noni Mann, and several others. The FIR alleges firing, criminal intimidation, and attempted murder outside a government office.
