Mansa Stubble Burning numbers have seen a dramatic fall this season, marking one of the district’s strongest environmental shifts. Officials confirmed a 48% decline in cases compared to last year. This improvement reflects the commitment of farmers and the success of focused awareness efforts. The district also celebrated the achievement of 104 villages that reported zero burning.
Heron Kalan delivered the biggest transformation. Once a major hotspot, the village reported 45 cases in 2023 and 15 in 2024. This season, it reported none. The village now stands proudly among the district’s “zero-burning villages.” Dodra village showed similar progress and also achieved a fire-free season. These results highlight the power of community action.
Deputy Commissioner Navjot Kaur praised the farmers for their discipline. She said continuous guidance, timely machinery support, and willingness to adopt new methods played a key role. Mansa Stubble Burning reduction also shows strong implementation of both in-situ and ex-situ management.
Satellite data recorded 304 cases this year, down from 592 last year and far lower than the 2,253 cases in 2023. Farmers used Super Seeders, Happy Seeders, mulching, balers, and pellet units to manage crop residue effectively.
Farmers like Gurmeet Singh also inspired others. He managed 50 acres without burning and encouraged sustainable practices.
