Patna girl suicide case has taken a new turn after police said a coaching student died by suicide by jumping from the seventh floor of an apartment in Phulwari Sharif. The incident had earlier raised suspicion of rape and murder, but investigators said evidence does not support those claims.
The Patna girl suicide case dates back to February 12, when the student was found dead near Sumitra Apartment close to AIIMS Golambar. She studied at a coaching centre operating in the building. Police formed a Special Investigation Team (SIT) and carried out forensic and medical examinations.
According to City SP (West) Bhanu Pratap Singh, the post-mortem report did not find any signs of sexual assault. Forensic experts also recreated the incident and concluded that the girl jumped on her own from the terrace.
The victim’s family had earlier accused some workers of rape and murder. Police conducted polygraph tests and other checks, but none confirmed those allegations. The investigation into the reason behind the suicide is still ongoing.
